Job Description

This role involves performing commercial and multi-family plumbing work within a construction division that focuses on apartment buildings, townhomes, and commercial restaurant and retail construction and remodel projects. You will install, test, and maintain a wide range of plumbing systems and equipment, working both independently and as part of a crew in a heavy commercial construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Dig, install, test, and backfill underground sanitary and grease piping systems.

• Perform rough-in work for new drain, waste and vent (DWV) systems and domestic water piping.

• Install roof drains and storm drainage piping to support building drainage systems.

• Cut, thread, and join PVC and cast iron piping to meet project specifications and plumbing codes.

• Thread, install, and test building gas piping to ensure safe and reliable operation.

• Install a variety of plumbing fixtures and trim, including water closets, urinals, lavatories, sinks, and drinking fountains.

• Install plumbing-specific equipment such as water heaters, storage tanks, recirculation pumps, tankless water heaters, sump pumps, and water filtration systems.

• Perform brazing, pipe threading, soldering, and welding as required for various plumbing installations and repairs.

• Read and interpret blueprints to plan and execute plumbing layouts and installations.

• Follow applicable plumbing codes and safety standards on all job sites.

• Collaborate with crew members, subcontractors, and customers to complete projects efficiently and professionally.

• Carry out other field-related plumbing tasks as required to support project completion.

Essential Skills

• Previous commercial or industrial plumbing experience with proven hands-on field work.

• Valid Journeyman or Apprentice plumbing license.

• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction drawings.

• Working knowledge of IPC and AHCD plumbing codes.

• Proficiency with PVC and cast iron piping installation, including cutting, threading, and joining.

• Experience with drainage systems, including sanitary, grease, and storm piping.

• Capability to perform brazing, soldering, and welding for plumbing applications.

• Familiarity with OSHA safety practices and ability to work safely on active construction sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience operating trenching and excavation equipment such as skid steers, mini-hoe, and backhoe is a plus.

• Experience in residential plumbing is acceptable, provided there is solid and verifiable commercial plumbing experience.

• Mechanical aptitude and strong understanding of piping and mechanical systems.

• Ability to schedule and coordinate work within a crew setting.

• Comfort interacting with subcontractors and customers on job sites.

Work Environment

This position is based in a heavy commercial construction environment that includes both indoor and outdoor work. You will work on multi-family and commercial restaurant and retail construction and remodel projects, often on active job sites. The role requires comfort working independently as well as within a crew, with regular interaction with subcontractors and customers. Work conditions may involve exposure to varying weather, construction noise, and typical job-site hazards, with a strong emphasis on safe work practices and adherence to OSHA guidelines.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Pittsburgh, PA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $35.00/hr.
