Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing firm, and we are recruiting for a Senior Accountant to assist with operational accounting responsibilities aligned with a leader in the development of advanced nuclear innovation and next-generation Small Modular Reactor (SMR) deployment.

Work Status: Direct Hire with benefits

Annual Salary: $100,000 - $119,000 (Commensurate with experience)
Citizen Status: Due to Federal DOE regulations, U.S. Citizenship is required

Location - Onsite: City Centre Complex in Houston, TX 77024

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm

Position Summary:  

This role requires in-depth knowledge of U.S. GAAP, specifically for cost accounting and revenue recognition (ASC 606), and experience in a SOX environment. Regular collaboration with other departments, including Project Accounting and Project Controls, is crucial to success in this position. The Senior Accountant also has accountability for preparing journal entries, performing project-level financial analyses, preparing account reconciliations, and supporting internal and external audit requests.

 

Responsibilities: 

• Prepare monthly project-related journal entries, ensuring accurate coding under U.S. GAAP (including ASC 606 revenue recognition) and client’s Chart of Accounts.
• Responsible for monthly and ad hoc analysis of project-related cost and revenue accounting.
• Prepare monthly and quarterly reconciliations for GL accounts and subsystems.
• Gather, organize, and process documentation for projects being performed across the company, maintaining a large data set. This will require regular collaboration with internal groups and clients.
• Successfully perform key Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls in areas such as Projects, Revenue, and Financial Close Management.
• Dedication to continuously improving accounting, reporting, and SOX processes, with ability to lead process improvement initiatives.
• Support financial statement audits, incurred cost audits, and internal audits.

 

Education / Experience:  

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related business field is required .
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Management Accountant (CMA) designation is highly preferred.
• 5+ years of full-time accounting experience in a public company.
• Demonstrated proficiency and application of U.S. GAAP and SOX compliance standards.
• Experience with Oracle ERP and EPM is a plus. 
• Must possess advanced Microsoft Excel skills with a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and organization. 
• Must have strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work successfully on cross-functional teams, as well as independently with minimal daily direction from manager to accomplish objectives. 
• Proficiency identifying and driving process improvement initiatives
• Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
