Project Manager – Heavy Civil ConstructionOne of the Phoenix area's leaders in heavy civil construction is seeking a Project Manager to be part of their dynamic management team. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated with a strong work ethic. This position requires someone who is dependable, enjoys challenging projects, and possesses a desire to be a part of a successful construction team. Experience managing heavy civil/highway construction projects is a must. This could include paving, grading, earthwork, excavation, bridgework, marine construction, wet/dry utilities etc.Responsibilities:Plan and formulate civil construction projects according to project requirements and engineering standardsEffectively manage project budget and ensure the project meets projected/required margins, submit accurate and timely cost and income projections for the project, and appropriately act on changes in project margins and budget variances to ensure project profitabilityDevelop project schedule and update on a regular basis with a realistic timetable for future work itemsEnsure overall project quality control, including review of project designs for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer contract requirements and related specificationsEnsure all site operations adhere to Company and site safety policies and protocols, Incident and Injury Free protocols are followed, and behaviors and culture are instilled at all levels on the projectCreate and maintain all project-related documentation and correspondence. Prepare analytical reports for presentation to upper managementCollaborate with field management to ensure successful resolution of issues between the project plan and site execution on an ongoing basisApprove all equipment or personnel changes and requisitions prepared and submitted by superintendentsDemonstrate understanding of when to elevate issues and/or communicate to upper managementPlan for and organize project staff according to project requirements, including assigning proper personnel to specific projects or components of projectsEnsure and communicate clear roles and responsibilities to the entire project teamConduct weekly meetings with the project team (to include scheduling and costing review)Conduct and document ongoing financial projections of project performance throughout the project lifeSubmit accurate and timely payment requisitionsDemonstrate a thorough understanding of contract terms and specificationsDemonstrate a thorough understanding of the project schedule, key project milestones, and reasons for delays.Oversee the issuance of subcontracts and supplier purchase orders and ensure the appropriate performance management of subcontractorsEducation and Experience:Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management and/or equivalent work experience5+ years on civil heavy/highway projects is required.
