Veterinary Surgical Tech *Sign-on Bonus Eligible*

Job Responsibilities Prepares surgical and cath lab suites for procedures, including setting up instruments and stocking study‑specific supplies. Monitors anesthesia and animal vitals during surgical interventional procedures. Administers medications intra‑procedure. Performs euthanasia. Collects laboratory samples, such as blood and urine, and processes them for analysis. Assists with specialized software‑driven equipment, fluoroscopy and 3D imaging, etc. in support of procedures. Provides customer service to clients through professional interactions and by responding to client requests. Prepares and maintains surgical instruments through washing, drying and proper storage. Assembles surgical packs and processes sterile packs via autoclave or ethylene oxide. Operates, cleans and maintains gas anesthesia machines, autoclave and other surgical equipment routinely utilized. Maintains an efficient and clean work area by organizing and re‑stocking cath labs, operating rooms, and the general storeroom as needed. Other duties as assigned. Salary Range 23-25/hr Qualifications & Technical Competencies Bachelor’s degree in scientific discipline or Associate of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology required. 0-2 years related work experience. Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) or ALAT certification preferred. Knowledge of research animal physiology, pharmacology and general animal care preferred. Working Conditions Regular exposure to fluoroscopy; occasionally required to work within a Bio‑Safety‑Level 2 (BSL2) environment and rarely exposed to faxitron x‑ray imaging. Protective lead clothing (12–21 lbs.) is required during all radiographic exposure. Regular handling and contact with livestock, domestic and laboratory animals, and their blood and body fluids. Regular work with sharps, gases such as CO₂ and isoflurane, and occasional exposure to wet conditions, toxic or caustic chemicals, and zoonotic diseases. Noise level is usually moderate and occasionally loud. Hearing protection is required in designated areas and when performing specific tasks. Required to stand, walk, use hands, and talk or hear; frequently required to reach, lift, and move up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 75 lbs with assistance. May be required to sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. May be required to view computer monitors and stand for extended periods. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, ability to see a full range of colors, adjust focus, and exceptional spatial acuity and visual‑kinesthetic coordination. Pay and Benefits Pay Range Minimum: $15.24 Pay Range Target: $26.00 Pay Frequency: Hourly. Individual base pay depends on various factors, in addition to primary work location, such as complexity and responsibility of role, job duties/requirements, and relevant experience and skills.
