The Acute Care Medicine Nurse will support the Medical Center’s Medicine Unit and Level 1 Trauma Center, providing high-quality care to patients based on assessed needs, established standards of care, and institutional policies and procedures. The majority of patients are admitted from the Emergency Department, with occasional lateral transfers from the main hospital requiring extended inpatient care. Location Cincinnati, OH, United States Qualifications Education and Experience Requirements: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing Associate’s Degree, minimum required Bachelor of Science in Nursing, preferred Current OH RN License Current BLS/ACLS/PALS per department requirements based on patient population needs. Responsibilities Job Responsibilities The Clinical Nurse I (CN I) is an individual who holds a current state license to practice nursing in Ohio. He or she Promotes and restores patients' health by completing the nursing process; collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members; providing physical and psychological support to patients, friends, and families. The RN utilizes knowledge derived from the principles of biological, physical, behavioral, social, and nursing sciences to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate culturally based and age specific patient care. The RN incorporates the principles of the ANCC Synergy Model for patient care to drive nursing practice, resulting in optimum outcomes for the patient. Prepares, implements, evaluates, revises and coordinates interdisciplinary plan of care for each assigned patient in a collaborative effort with the other healthcare team members and patient/family within the time frame indicated by unit's standards of practice. Communicates formulated plan of care, as appropriate, to all levels of associates involved in the patient's care, and demonstrates ability to establish priorities of care based on patient's assessment and needs. Gives clear instructions to patients/family regarding treatment, and involves family/guardian in the assessment, initial treatment, and continuing care of the patient. Identifies and responds appropriately to different patient needs resulting from behavioral health problems, unique psychological needs or those associated with religious/cultural norms. Demonstrates critical thinking, accountability, flexibility, and a cooperative attitude in meeting the needs of the unit. Nursing process is accurately and concisely documented, including evaluation of treatment and in accordance to hospital policy and procedure. Acts as a resource person and mentor for new personnel, floater, and/or supplemental staff working on the unit. Assumes responsibility for personal professional development and contributes to the professional development of peers, colleagues, and others.
