A veterinary compounding pharmacy is seeking a Staff Pharmacist to join their team in a contract-to-hire capacity. This role focuses on non-sterile compounding with a specialty in equine and veterinary medications. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with animal compounding, strong leadership abilities, and a commitment to delivering exceptional care for animal patients.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and support a team of 3–4 pharmacy technicians to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Verify prescriptions and manage pharmacy workflow efficiently.
• Review and maintain 25–30 regularly reordered formularies relevant to veterinary and equine care.
• Ensure compliance with pharmacy policies, procedures, and quality standards.
• Collaborate with pharmacists and technicians to promote efficiency and patient safety.
• Oversee inventory management and assist with operational duties as necessary.

Qualifications / Desired Experience:

• Active Pharmacist license in accordance with state requirements.
• Experience in equine or veterinary/animal non-sterile compounding is essential; human compounding experience alone is insufficient.
• Proven leadership skills with the ability to supervise and mentor pharmacy technicians.
• Strong work ethic, initiative, and a positive attitude toward continuous learning.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and consistently follow established procedures.
• Passionate about providing outstanding care for animal patients.

Technology:
Familiarity or willingness to learn PK Software for order entry and QuickBooks Online for invoicing. Transition to Pharmetica software is planned.

This pharmacy dispenses approximately 200+ prescriptions daily, predominantly non-sterile compounded medications, and values candidates who combine expertise with a dedication to animal health.
