Who You Are:  The Health Occupations Instructional Specialist ensures the efficient operation of all programs within the Health Careers by providing essential administrative support to Faculty members. This role assists instructors with lab setup, lab cleaning, test proctoring, curriculum support,  inventory management, and other clerical task such as coordinating meetings, maintaining clinical agreements, and coordinating clinical schedules. The specialist plays a critical role in supporting the Faculty to deliver high-quality instruction while continually improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the administrative operations.

Qualified Candidates Will:

• You'll possess a high school diploma with a technology center certificate. Associate's degree preferred.
• You’ll possess three years of related experience, preferably as a Nursing Assistant or Health Related Administrative Support. 
• You'll be experienced with computer software applications, including Google Workspace.
• You are detail-oriented and organized. You're a project planner who meets deadlines.
• You'll have excellent customer service. You're a fanatic about exceeding customer expectations and have excellent follow-up skills. 
• You'll take the initiative, seek out projects, and openly accept other duties as assigned.
• You'll have excellent communication skills.
• You continually look for ways to improve your skillset and are always open to receiving feedback.

What You'll Do

Specialists focus on accomplishing a specific function within a workgroup and have expertise/education in a specialized area or niche. Specialists are subject matter experts with in-depth knowledge and skills related to their profession or industry. Their responsibilities may involve more specialized tasks such as research, analysis, limited project management, or technical support. Mostly task-oriented with limited cross-functional responsibilities and present-focused, a Specialist will operate with autonomy, accountability, and decision making in collaboration with their supervisor, while also bringing specialized knowledge to collaborative projects.  Members of these groups must be willing to work as a team and handle multiple functions within their area of expertise. They implement change initiatives efficiently and effectively and have strong interpersonal communication skills.

Essential Functions:

• Provide high level administrative support for all Health Careers Faculty. Including lab setup, test proctoring, curriculum support, compliance oversight, inventory management, record management,  lab cleaning, test proctoring, and other clerical tasks such as coordinating meetings, maintaining clinical agreements, and providing assistance in coordinating clinical schedules.
• Lab setup and preparation involve organizing lab stations with the necessary equipment, materials, and supplies as directed by instructors for each skills practice session. It is essential to ensure that all lab equipment is clean, functional, and in good condition before every use. Additionally, maintaining an organized and safe lab environment is crucial to facilitating efficient student learning and providing a conducive space for skill development. 
• Inventory management involves monitoring the levels of lab supplies, including medical tools, mannequins, gloves, syringes, gauze, and other consumables. It requires ordering supplies as needed and keeping accurate records of inventory usage. Any damaged or missing equipment should be reported promptly to program instructors or coordinators to ensure smooth operation and resource availability.
• Lab maintenance and cleaning involve cleaning and sanitizing all equipment and surfaces after each session in accordance with infection control protocols. Equipment should be properly organized and stored after use, and routine maintenance should be performed to ensure functionality. Additionally, any minor equipment issues should be troubleshot as needed to maintain a smooth operation of the lab.
• Regularly review the faculty calendar to anticipate upcoming lab sessions, ensuring all necessary preparations are made in advance. Proactively coordinate with instructors to confirm any additional needs or changes to scheduled activities.
• Other Job-Related Duties as Assigned by the Supervisor: The omission of duties does not exclude it from the position if similar, related, or a logical assignment to the job. In other words, you'll be helping out on spontaneous projects and opportunities not listed above.

Terms of Employment: Twelve months; salary to be established by the Board of Education.

Evaluation: Performance evaluated by the Instructional Director.

Status: Exempt

Salary: $45,000 annually
