Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the surgical first assistant during operative procedures, providing direct support to the surgeon
• Assist with tissue handling, retraction, hemostasis, and wound closure as directed by the operating surgeon
• Prepare and maintain the sterile field in accordance with established surgical standards and protocols
• Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and efficient workflow throughout all phases of surgery
• Assist with patient positioning, draping, and preoperative site preparation

Required Qualifications

• Active CSFA (Certified Surgical First Assistant) certification required
• Current CST (Certified Surgical Technologist) credential or equivalent surgical technology background
• Demonstrated experience functioning as a first assistant in the operating room
• Knowledge of surgical instrumentation, techniques, and sterile field management
• Current BLS/CPR certification

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Experience across multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, general, cardiovascular)
• Prior experience in a hospital or acute care surgical setting
• Strong communication and teamwork skills within a fast-paced OR environment
