Associate Warden McCormick Correctional Inst, McCormick (MCCORMICK) Level 3

Job Responsibilities

Under limited supervision, provide assistance to the Warden of an adult male medium/maximum security institution to ensure instructions and directives are implemented.

Responsible to the Warden in the areas of medical, education, maintenance, cafeteria, business, horticulture, prison industries, recreation, religious activities, mail room, commissary, canteen and human services.

Dually supervise one administrative assistant and one administrative specialist.

Working hours will vary. On Call.

Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:

A bachelor's degree and supervisory experience in a correctional environment or relevant military experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

SCDC Minimum Requirements:

• A high diploma and ten (10) years' experience in correctional, security, military, or police work, which must include five (5) years of supervisory experience in a correctional environment.
• A bachelor's degree may substitute for 4 years of overall experience.
• Associate degree may substitute for 2 years of overall experience.
• No substitutions for supervisory experience.
• Must be certified by the SCDC training academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
