Barista Position

New street level coffee shop and bar managed by Magnolia Hotel Houston opening soon!

We are seeking an enthusiastic, customer-focused barista to join our food and beverage team.

Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve high quality coffee, espresso-based beverages, teas, and specialty drinks according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Greet guests promptly and provide friendly, personalized service throughout the guest experience.
  • Practice suggestive selling techniques for beverages, pastries, snacks, and marketplace items.
  • Correctly enter guest orders into the point-of-sale system, including proper payment handling procedures for cash, room charges, and credit cards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of coffee machines, counters, service areas, marketplace displays, and storage areas throughout the shift.
  • Stock and replenish coffee beans, syrups, milk, cups, lids, grab-and-go items, and other supplies as needed.
  • Monitor inventory levels and notify management of low stock or out-of-stock items.
  • Ensure marketplace offerings are properly stocked, rotated, labeled, and presented according to hotel standards.
  • Follow all hotel food safety, sanitation, and health department standards when preparing and handling food and beverages.
  • Complete opening and closing side duties, including cleaning equipment, restocking supplies, and securing work areas.
  • Maintain cleanliness of china, glassware, utensils, and service equipment during service periods.
  • Adhere to all hotel and food & beverage department safety standards and procedures.
  • Properly handle all chemicals and cleaning products, especially in food preparation and service areas.
  • Maintain professional appearance and grooming standards in accordance with hotel policies.
  • Anticipate guest needs and resolve guest concerns professionally and promptly. Seek management assistance when necessary.
  • Inform the manager or supervisor of any guest concerns, product shortages, equipment issues, or operational challenges.
  • Work cooperatively with other departments and team members to ensure efficient hotel operations and exceptional guest service.
  • Report any injury, accident, or unsafe condition immediately to management.
  • Other duties as assigned, which may include assisting in other food & beverage outlets or hotel departments as needed.
Qualifications
  • Previous barista, coffee shop, marketplace, or food & beverage experience preferred.
  • Experience with computerized point-of-sale systems and cash handling.
  • Knowledge of espresso machines, coffee preparation, and beverage presentation preferred.
  • Ability to follow hotel food and beverage policies regarding sanitation, food handling, storage, and side work.
  • Willingness to interact with guests in a friendly, welcoming, and professional manner throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
  • Willingness to assist in all areas of the food & beverage department.
  • Physical ability to perform the functions of the position.
