Research Technician II

The Research Technician I position is responsible for supporting laboratory research activities through the performance of molecular and cellular biology experiments, cell culture, animal studies, and data analysis. Responsibilities for this position include: • Perform independent experiments using molecular and cellular biology techniques, including viral gene transfer, gene expression analysis, multiparametric flow cytometry, and immunofluorescence microscopy.

• Maintain and manipulate cell cultures, including patient-derived tumor cells and stem-like cells.
• Conduct animal studies, including xenograft tumor models and drug treatment protocols, isolation of immune cells.
• Troubleshoot experimental procedures and optimize protocols as needed.
• Analyze and interpret experimental data, preparing summary reports and presentations.
• Contribute to manuscript preparation and grant applications.
• Demonstrate proficiency in aseptic work for cell culture, sample handling, and sterile experimental procedures.

At Houston Methodist, the Research Technician II position is responsible for performing scientific analyses and tests required for research under moderate supervision. This position performs various advanced assays, imaging experiments, and other technical duties to assist with the research activities of the laboratory and may be required to work with animal models and/or human subjects, performing scientific analyses and test required for research under direct supervision. The Research Technician II position may provide supervision and guidance to junior level technicians.

Performs intermediate bench chemistry, microbiology, molecular biology or other scientific techniques according to protocol.
