Job Description

The Environmental Service Attendant maintains a clean, safe, and orderly environment across campus facilities and grounds. This role supports dormitories, academic buildings, athletic facilities, and outdoor areas by performing custodial and general cleaning tasks according to established standards and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily custodial duties to keep dorms, academic buildings, and athletic facilities clean, safe, and orderly.
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, common areas, offices, and other assigned spaces using appropriate cleaning products and tools.
• Sweep, mop, vacuum, and dust floors and surfaces to maintain a neat and presentable environment.
• Remove trash and recyclables from offices, dorms, and common areas, and dispose of waste in designated collection points.
• Clean up spills and address general housekeeping needs promptly to reduce safety hazards.
• Support groundskeeping activities, including maintaining outdoor campus areas in a clean and orderly condition.
• Follow assigned work schedules, including specific shifts for groundskeeping and dorm cleaning, and complete all tasks within required timeframes.
• Use cleaning equipment and supplies safely and correctly, following all instructions and guidelines.
• Report any maintenance issues, safety concerns, or unusual conditions in facilities or on the grounds to the appropriate contact.
• Work both independently and as part of a team to ensure all assigned areas meet cleanliness and quality standards.

Essential Skills

• Ability to perform custodial and cleaning duties, including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and trash removal.
• Capability to carry out general labor tasks associated with cleaning and groundskeeping.
• Reliability to follow set schedules, including weekday and weekend shifts, and arrive on time for assigned work.
• Attention to detail to ensure all facilities and grounds remain clean, orderly, and presentable.
• Willingness to work in both indoor and outdoor environments as assigned.
• No prior experience required.
• No specific education required.
• No certifications required.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfort using basic cleaning tools and equipment such as mops, brooms, vacuums, and cleaning carts.
• Ability to follow instructions and adhere to established cleaning procedures and safety guidelines.
• Strong work ethic and willingness to take initiative in maintaining cleanliness and order.
• Flexibility to work different shifts, including weekday, weekend, and early morning schedules.
• Capability to perform physical tasks such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting as needed for cleaning and groundskeeping.

Work Environment

This role is fully onsite at campus facilities, including dormitories, academic buildings, and athletic facilities, as well as outdoor campus grounds. You work in a mix of temperature-controlled indoor spaces and non-temperature-controlled areas, depending on the assignment. Some schedules focus on groundskeeping from 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday, while others focus on dorm cleaning from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM on Sunday through Thursday or Tuesday through Saturday. You perform your duties using standard cleaning tools and supplies in both indoor and outdoor environments, and you should be prepared for varying weather conditions while working on the grounds.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Bowling Green, KY.

The pay range for this position is $13.72 - $13.72/hr.
