Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Reference Data

Salary: $61,000 - 101,000 per year Requirements:

• We expect formal training or certification in software engineering concepts, plus 5+ years of hands-on experience.
• We require 2+ years of experience leading technologists to resolve complex technical challenges within your area of expertise.
• We value experience leading multi-team adoption of enterprise-authorized AI-assisted development and delivery tools, including governance, validation, quality gates, and secure handling of inputs and outputs.
• We look for a strong understanding of responsible AI use in engineering workflows, including data sensitivity, resiliency, security implications, and control expectations.
• We need practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability.
• We expect expert-level Java skills, along with deep knowledge of Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, Spring Data, Spring Security (JWT/OAuth2), Spring Framework, and AWS-based cloud development.
• We require strong knowledge of distributed systems, microservices architecture, and design patterns.
• We look for production experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, CloudWatch, IAM, and Kinesis, as well as databases including MongoDB, Snowflake, Databricks, and relational SQL.
• We expect experience with Git/Bitbucket, CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, agile ways of working, and continuous delivery.
• We require proficiency in Java/J2EE, REST APIs, event-driven microservices, Kafka, Kinesis, Spark Structured Streaming, and messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ.
• We expect hands-on experience with system design, application development, testing, Git/Bitbucket, JIRA, and Maven.
• We need someone who can solve design and functionality issues independently, with strong ownership and clear communication.
• Preferred: Python data engineering experience, including Databricks and reference data or data infrastructure backgrounds.
• Preferred: Platform or product development experience, or contributions to open-source projects or public technical content.
• Preferred: AWS certification at Associate level or higher.
• Preferred: Experience with Spring Cloud, including the Netflix OSS stack.
• Preferred: Experience building or supporting high-scale, real-time data systems and data mesh patterns.
• Preferred: Experience with multi-region or disaster recovery scenarios.
• Preferred: Familiarity with managed service architecture patterns.

• We provide direction, oversight, and coaching to a team of entry-level to mid-level software engineers working on basic to moderately complex tasks.
• We set and scale operating practices for enterprise-authorized AI-assisted engineering and SDLC/TLM automation across multiple teams.
• We define measurable goals for throughput, defect reduction, reliability, validation, security, resiliency, and reuse of proven patterns.
• We apply SDLC toolchain knowledge, including AI-assisted development and automation capabilities, to improve efficiency and unlock team capacity.
• We develop creative software solutions and rethink complex data infrastructure problems to eliminate or automate recurring issues.
• We build secure, high-quality production code, review and debug others code, and uphold engineering standards.
• We design and develop Java/Spring Boot microservices for real-time data product delivery and platform capabilities.
• We own features end to end, including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• We optimize the performance, scalability, and cost efficiency of microservices and data pipelines while writing comprehensive tests.
• We participate in design and code reviews and proactively address technical debt.
• We contribute to production support and incident response.
• We share knowledge through documentation, runbooks, and technical talks.
