Title: Staff Accountant

Location: Alexandria, VA – Hybrid (3 days in office)

Compensation: $60,000 –$70,000 (depending on experience)

Job Description:

Our client is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their Finance team in Alexandria, VA. This position will support day-to-day general accounting activities, month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting within a collaborative and structured environment. The ideal candidate has hands-on General Ledger experience, strong Excel skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.

Responsibilities:

• Perform day-to-day General Ledger accounting activities and maintain accurate financial records.
\n
• Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring transactions are properly recorded and supported.
\n
• Complete monthly bank and account reconciliations, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
\n
• Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including accruals, prepaid expenses, and other general accounting activities.
\n
• Review transactions for accuracy, completeness, and appropriate account coding.
\n
• Assist with financial reporting, account analysis, and supporting schedules.
\n
• Research and resolve accounting discrepancies in a timely manner.
\n
• Maintain organized accounting documentation and supporting records.
\n
• Collaborate with members of the Finance and Accounting teams on projects and process improvements.
\n
• Support additional accounting initiatives and assignments as needed while meeting established deadlines.

Qualifications:

\n
• 1+ year of accounting experience.
\n
• Hands-on General Ledger accounting experience required.
\n
• Experience preparing journal entries, bank reconciliations, and account reconciliations.
\n
• Exposure to month-end close activities.
\n
• Strong Excel skills and familiarity with accounting systems or ERP platforms.
\n
• Accounting degree preferred.
\n
