Assistant Nursing Director
The Assistant Nursing Director assists the Nursing Director in ensuring resident care needs are met by health and supportive services provided to residents as directed by health services leadership. Assists health services leadership in overseeing health services procedures and systems, care staff, and schedules.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
- Partnering with health services leadership to create a resident-centered approach to the planning and delivery of services to residents, supporting residents' rights to participate in decision-making and treating residents with dignity and respect.
- Assisting with assessments or evaluations on health, functional and psychosocial status of residents. Participating in the development of individualized service plans. Proactively managing care and services for each resident, maximizing the resident's opportunity to remain in the assisted living environment. Problem-solving as part of the management team to case manage and meet the needs of residents.
- Evaluating residents with reported changes of condition. Providing team member direction, service planning, and coordination of care to meet the residents changing needs.
- Collaborating with the management team on the move in of prospective residents, taking into consideration the needs of the prospective resident, current community acuity, and staffing levels.
- Assisting in the coordination of resident health services appointments for offsite visits through transportation services or use of the company vehicle.
- Communicating regularly with residents' families regarding health care needs. Providing education and support to residents and families.
- Assisting in supervision and training of health services team members including personal care and medication management.
- Partnering in the investigation and root cause analysis of incidents. Collaborating with the management team on the development and implementation of appropriate interventions.
- Collaborating with Health Services Director to ensure the documentation and communication of resident care and services. Ensuring resident records are completed in a timely manner and maintained according to company policies and state regulations.
- Assisting in the management of Infection Control. Providing training to staff on infection control practices, investigating, and reporting incidents of infection and tracking infection data.
- Providing on-call support and phone triage for team members' questions regarding resident concerns. Working as a Medication Aide and/or Personal Care Attendant as needed.
- Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and experience include:
- Must have a current, unencumbered LPN/LVN license.
- Excellent written and oral communication, computer and motivational skills are essential to success.
- Ability to creatively problem-solve in both resident care and employee management situations.
- Experience in geriatric nursing, medication administration, case management, training/staff development, budgets, and team management a plus.
- Additional course work in management an asset.
Education:
- Associates or Bachelor's degree in nursing or equivalent knowledge and skills obtained through a combination of education, training, and experience
