Job Title: Caregiver (Days)

Location: Front Porch of Bowdon, Bowdon, GA

Job Type: Full Time

Pay: $12.00 to $14.00 per hour depending on experience and certification

Shifts: First shift 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM, or second shift 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

Front Porch of Bowdon is a licensed senior living community withy 30+ residents. We are one house in Bowdon, not a campus and not part of a chain. The owner is a licensed nurse who works in the building, and the management team is small enough that we know every caregiver by name and know what each of them is good at.

That changes the job day to day. When something on your hall is not working, you raise it with someone who has the authority to fix it, and you get an answer. There is no corporate office three states away setting policy for a building they have never walked through. We are a small business, and decisions here are made by people who have to live with them.

The Caregiver provides direct, hands-on personal care to residents on a set first or second shift schedule. This includes assistance with activities of daily living, meal service, call light response, observing and reporting changes in resident condition, and documenting care provided. The role works closely with the other caregivers on the hall and hands off in writing at the end of every shift.

We staff three rotations, each on two shifts:

- Sunday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

- Sunday through Thursday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

- Friday through Monday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

- Friday through Monday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

- Tuesday through Saturday, 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM

- Tuesday through Saturday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM

Which of these is open depends on our staffing needs at the time you apply, so we keep this posting up year round and match applicants to current openings. Indicate your preferred schedule and shift on the application, and tell us whether you would consider another one if your first choice is not available.

Please note that every rotation includes at least one weekend day. Please note: we do not have a Monday through Friday only schedule.

- Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, toileting, and incontinence care

- Assist with transfers, repositioning, and mobility, using proper technique and equipment

- Serve meals and snacks and provide feeding assistance to residents who need it

- Answer resident call lights promptly and either resolve the need or escalate it

- Observe residents for changes in physical condition, behavior, skin integrity, and appetite, and report those changes to the appropriate person

- Document the care you provide and what you observe, according to facility standards

- Complete a written shift handoff so the incoming shift starts informed

- Keep resident rooms and common areas clean, safe, and free of hazards

- Support residents living with dementia, including those who are confused, repetitive, or resistant to care

- Follow resident care plans, facility policy, and applicable state regulations

Required :

- Dependable attendance on a set schedule that includes weekend days

- Willingness to provide hands-on personal care, including toileting and incontinence care

- Ability to stay calm and respectful with residents who are confused, agitated, or resistant

- Ability to stand and walk for the length of a shift and to assist with resident transfers and repositioning

- Ability to read a care plan and to document care clearly in writing

- Ability to pass a criminal background check and fingerprinting

- CPR and Proxy Caregiver training within the first 30 days of hire.

Preferred :

- Previous experience as a caregiver, CNA, home health aide, or in an assisted living or personal care home setting

- Current CNA certification

- Experience working with residents who have dementia or Alzheimer's disease

We will train the right person without prior experience. A caring temperament is the part we cannot teach.

- Orientation and continuing education training provided, including 24 hours of orientation in your first year and 16 hours of continuing education annually

- Owner and management on site and reachable, not a corporate call center

Employment is contingent on a satisfactory criminal background check and fingerprinting, a negative TB test, current CPR certification (if available at time of hire), proof of eligibility to work in the United States, and completion of our new hire onboarding.
