About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 19:00 - 07:00 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 2 years License: Active RN License Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NRP, AWHONN Must-Have: OB experience Description: This position is for a registered nurse specializing in labor and delivery. The unit has a total of 9 labor, delivery, and recovery beds, and 8 postpartum/gyn beds. There are 2 operating room suites and a well-baby nursery. The staff includes a day shift director, manager, couplet nurses, and labor and delivery nurses among others. During the night shift, there is a clinical coordinator or charge nurse and additional L&D staff. The patient-to-nurse ratio is 3 couplets to 1 nurse and 1 nurse per 1 active labor patient receiving Pitocin or epidural. The unit employs specific equipment including Corometrics and utilizes EMR Centricity Perinatal & Meditech. Experience in performing labor and delivery, cesarean sections, postpartum care, and newborn care is required. Triage, inductions, and midwifery services are also part of the unit’s offerings. Ideal candidates will possess an energetic and self-directed personality. Staffing requires 4 weekend shifts per month on the Saturday and Sunday day shift, or Friday and Saturday night shift. There is no call requirement for travel staff, although opportunities for extra shifts may be available.
