EXECUTIVE CHEF I - Odessa, TX

Position Title: Executive Chef I – Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, TX Pay Grade: 14 Job Summary As Executive Chef you will oversee kitchen operations, ensuring a safe and sanitary environment and preparing or directing the preparation of meals in accordance with corporate programs and guidelines. Key Responsibilities Plan regular and modified menus according to established guidelines. Follow standardized recipes, portioning, and presentation standards; complete daily production worksheets and waste log sheets; taste finished meals to ensure quality. Train kitchen staff in food preparation, safe handling, equipment operation, food safety, and sanitation based on company and regulatory standards. Establish and maintain cleaning and maintenance schedules for equipment, storage, and work areas; ensure staff completes assigned schedules. Maintain inventory of food and non‑food supplies to stay within established guidelines while ensuring necessary products are available. Make decisions regarding use of leftover food products within company guidelines. Comply with federal, state and local health and sanitation regulations and department sanitation procedures, evidenced by local health department and third‑party audits. Follow facility, department, and company safety policies and procedures, including occurrence reporting. Participate in departmental meetings, staff development, and professional programs as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications A.S. degree or equivalent experience. 5+ years of progressive culinary/kitchen management experience, per formal degree or training. Extensive catering experience (plus). High‑volume, complex foodservice operations experience (highly desirable). Institutional and batch cooking experience. Hands‑on chef experience required. Comprehensive knowledge of food and catering trends with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation. Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office Suite, Outlook, E‑mail, Internet). Willingness to participate in client satisfaction programs/activities. ServSafe certification (highly desirable).
