Workers Compensation Adjuster (medical only)

Job Description: A regional insurance organization is seeking a Medical Only Workers’ Compensation Adjuster to support their team on a temporary basis. This remote position focuses on managing workers’ compensation claims specifically for the states of Virginia and Tennessee. The role will involve investigating claim compensability, assessing exposure, setting reserves, and managing medical benefits as needed. The candidate will communicate effectively with agents, policyholders and other stakeholders to ensure timely resolution of claims. This position is currently a temporary assignment designed to cover a medical leave, with an expected duration to January 29, 2027. The role offers flexibility in work location, with the option to work remotely or from an office in West Virginia. Responsibilities: Manage workers’ compensation claims (medical only) for Virginia and Tennessee, ensuring accurate investigation of claim compensability and exposure assessments Set and adjust reserves efficiently based on claim developments and medical updates Coordinate medical benefits management to ensure appropriate and timely healthcare delivery Communicate regularly and effectively with agents, policyholders, and internal teams to provide updates and gather necessary claim information Ensure claims are handled within regulatory requirements and company policies Maintain accurate, detailed records for each claim in accordance with company standards Escalate complex issues and provide recommendations for claim resolution when necessary Requirements: 2+ years of medical-only workers’ compensation adjuster experience Jurisdictional expertise in Virginia and Tennessee Strong time management, communication and problem-solving skills Proficiency with Outlook, Excel, Word and Teams Ability to work independently in a remote environment or in an office setting if preferred Knowledge of workers’ compensation laws and medical claim processes in the specified states Pay Range: The anticipated pay range for this position is $35.00 - $39.00 per hour.
