Job Description Role SummaryApplication Engineer – IndustrialCompany: MANN+HUMMEL | Location: Gastonia, North Carolina #LI-OnsiteThe Application Engineer – Industrial supports the Industrial business by serving as the technical customer-facing resource for assigned markets and customers. This role focuses on application support, installation solutions, and customer program execution—including standard product RFQs, trainings, and technical sales support. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical engineering foundation, with hands-on experience applying engineering principles in real-world environments, and is comfortable working closely with Sales and customers to solve real-world application challenges in heavy-duty industrial environments. This is not a design engineering position; rather, the role emphasizes applied mechanical engineering problem solving, customer support, and field-facing collaboration to drive Industrial business growth.Key ResponsibilitiesSupport customers with filtration application needs including product selection and standard RFQsServe as primary technical contact for customer programs including meetings follow up and documentationSupport engineering changes including part number releases and workflow updatesPrepare technical presentations and support Sales in customer meetings and site visitsPlan and support programs including timing tasks resources and cost trackingCoordinate quotations testing and reporting to support customer programsSupport specification development for new filters and systems with R and DTroubleshoot technical issues and provide internal and external customer supportTrack program status open issues cost and budget information as neededMonitor competitive products complete benchmarks and provide field testing supportFollow Quality System and engineering process requirementsCoordinate with global engineering teams and contract resources to meet program timingPerform other duties as assignedProfileEducation and ExperienceBachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace/Aeronautical Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering is requiredCandidates without a relevant engineering degree will only be considered if they have 10+ years of directly related application engineering or field engineering experience in a similar industry or competitor environment1–3 years of experience in both manufacturing environments and customer-facing technical roles, with demonstrated ability to apply engineering knowledge to real-world applications and support customer needs.SkillsStrong customer facing communication and ability to explain technical topics clearlyStrong mechanical engineering aptitude with the ability to apply engineering fundamentals in hands-on, real-world environmentsStrong organization follow up and multitasking skillsProficiency with Microsoft OfficeAbility to coordinate testing documentation and reportingDetail oriented with ability to follow processes and quality requirementsAdaptable and effective in a changing environmentExperience supporting Sales and delivering customer presentations in technical environmentsPreferred SkillsCAD experience including Creo SolidWorks CATIA or similarFiltration and industrial application knowledgeAdditional language skillsGlobal engineering and cross functional collaboration experienceAre you full of ideas?
