Description:
The Registered Nurse (RN) plans and provides comprehensive nursing care.
This includes executing orders from Licensed Independent Providers, dispensing medications, and assisting in examinations and treatment.
The RN applies nursing and supervisory techniques required for the care and treatment of residents.
All technical and clinical procedures performed must be within the scope of education and licensure.
The RN attends sick calls to see residents and prepares examining rooms and equipment.
The RN operates pill call, dispenses medication, and documents accordingly.
Emergency calls to Licensed Independent Providers for medication orders are also required as necessary.
New residents are examined and assessed for illnesses or injuries and referred for further treatment when needed.
Emergency procedures must be performed as required, notifying the Licensed Independent Provider for treatment orders.
Coordination of medical services provided by contract personnel is essential.


Key responsibilities include:
Monitoring inpatient hospitalizations for early releases.
Providing guidance and supervision of nursing care by non-licensed medical staff.
Maintaining good working relationships with facility staff.
Utilizing established policies and procedures in decision-making.
Regularly evaluating the provision of medical services.
Ensuring security and confidentiality of all medical records.
Assisting with the review of medical files for documentation accuracy.
Monitoring potential catastrophic illnesses closely.
Auditing pharmacy use for adherence to formulary as required.
Observing and recording resident behavior.
Inspecting the medical unit to maintain safety protocols.
Providing health counseling and education on an individual or group basis.
Assisting in the preparation and maintenance of standard records and reports.
Reading and interpreting medical and technical procedures and regulations.
Facilitating accreditation of the medical program as applicable.
Preparing safety and incident reports as required by policies and procedures.
