Starting Date: Aug 25, 2026 Job Overview Job Title: SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGIST Department: STUDENT SERVICES Position Summary: The School Psychologist will assess students for special education eligibility, consult with staff and parents, develop recommendations for behavior plans, support social and emotional skill building, collaborate with personnel and community agencies, and ensure multicultural and bilingual needs are addressed. This position reports to the Director of Student Services or a designated administrator and does not supervise any employees. Essential Responsibilities Evaluate students’ eligibility for special education services. Assess students’ functional capabilities and/or classroom environment for determining functional level and developing recommendations and placement. Prepare written materials such as assessment reports and correspondence in a timely manner. Demonstrate awareness of multicultural and second language best practice when conducting assessments. Communicate with students, parents, teachers and other personnel for conducting functional behavioral assessments and behavior support plans. Research resources and methods to determine appropriate interventions. Consult on tiered intervention teams and other school and district teams regarding student services. Supervise interns, practicum students and others to monitor performance and support professional growth. Provide counseling to students in the special education process and to parents and guardians. Consult with teachers, parents, other personnel and outside professionals to develop plans and make recommendations. Collaborate with teachers, specialists, administrators and other roles to support students. Participate in district suicide prevention initiatives, including administering screeners and contributing to support planning. Other Responsibilities Maintain consistent and predictable attendance. Participate in meetings to receive or share information and expertise. Confer and consult regularly with the immediate supervisor. Perform other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience: Master’s Degree or higher in school psychology or clinical psychology. Experience and expertise in social and emotional support for students, collaborative problem solving and staff development. Skills: Command of oral and written language. Effective time management and ability to prioritize and complete assignments timely. Follow special education legal timelines. General computer skills, including Google and word-processing. Knowledge: Knowledge/experience with standardized testing of cognitive, adaptive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Abilities: Work and communicate with students, parents, and school personnel from diverse cultures in English, Spanish, or other relevant languages. Work collaboratively to establish and maintain effective relationships with co‑workers. Consult and collaborate in a positive manner as a team member. Maintain confidentiality and accurate, complete records. Demonstrate professionalism and appropriate judgment in behavior, speech, and dress. Use a telephone, operate a computer, and use other office equipment. Licenses, Certifications, Bonding, and/or Testing Required Oregon School Psychologist TSPC License or licensed psychologist by the Oregon Board of Psychologists. Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for on‑job travel. Physical Requirements Stationary or sitting for extended periods. Walking (surface and uneven), crouching, stooping, twisting, turning, climbing stairs or ladder. Reaching overhead and extension; repetitive use of arms, wrists, and hands; fine manipulation. Use of foot control; pushing/pulling up to 40 lbs; lifting/carrying up to 40 lbs. Work Environment Employees may physically interact with aggressive, emotional, or unpredictable students, be exposed to outdoor weather conditions, and work in environments that can be moderately to very loud and fast‑paced. The role is emotionally demanding.
