Clinicians will address a variety of disease processes across multiple systems. The focus areas include Respiratory, Endocrine, Cardiac, Immune/Infectious Disease, and Renal. Staff members will work 36 or 48 hours weekly and are required to work every other weekend. They must work 2 out of the 3 winter holidays. Block scheduling cannot be accommodated for this role. Staff members may take up to 40 hours of time off, but requests around Christmas cannot be approved. BLS and ACLS certifications are preferred, though not mandatory. All candidates must adhere to the floating policy. Epic experience is required, unless otherwise indicated. The unit supports a daily census of approximately 25 patients, mainly consisting of adults and geriatrics. Common patient diagnoses include respiratory illnesses, renal illnesses, diabetes, sepsis, cellulitis, infections, heart failure, sickle cell disease, and cystic fibrosis. The unit engages in multiple special procedures like nurse-driven heparin infusions, insulin drips, and telemetry monitoring. Various interdepartmental support services, such as IV teams, physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services, collaborate within the unit. Nurses are responsible for various technical tasks including chest tube management, heparin protocols, and wound care. Travelers must be willing to float within their scope of practice as needed. All applicants must ensure they have met the experience requirements outlined for the position. Education qualifications typically include a BSN preference.
