Job Summary and QualificationsUnder the general supervision of the unit Director or their designee, the Clinical Nurse Coordinator is responsible for directing and coordinating all functions within the unit, collaborating closely with the Director or stepping in during their absence. This role involves ongoing evaluation of the quality of patient care services provided in the unit.
The Clinical Nurse Coordinator also works with the Director on budgetary and strategic planning to identify areas for improvement. Additionally, this position aids the Director in delivering nursing leadership and overseeing clinical operations within the unit.
Key Responsibilities:- Facilitates admission and discharge processes to ensure efficient patient flow and high-quality, patient-centered care.
- Engages in continuous assessment of the quality of patient care services in collaboration with the management team.
- Works with subject matter experts and other managers to foster a collaborative environment that enhances outcomes and service quality.
- Promotes a patient-first philosophy and participates in service recovery when necessary.
- Assists in enhancing staff engagement by implementing current nursing strategies, including employee rounding and hourly checks.
- Provides input on interviewing, selecting, and training new staff. Recommends and executes actions related to training, conflict resolution, policy compliance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary measures to ensure a competitive organization.
- Assists with staff scheduling and manages labor aspects in line with patient care needs and productivity standards.
- Supports inventory management and assists in overseeing supplies and equipment.
Education
Required:
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Preferred:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)
Licensure/Certifications
Required: (Certifications must remain current)
- Registered Nurse (RN) licensure in Texas or a compact state.
- Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) with a 6-month grace period.
Preferred:
- National Certification
Experience
Required:
- Two years of clinical experience in Medical-Surgical nursing.
Preferred:
- One year of management experience.
- Experience in Acute Care settings.

- Ability to create staff schedules.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
- Effectively manages crises and emergency situations.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
- Encourages team-building initiatives.
- Ability to listen, empathize, and respond to the needs of patients, families, and partners.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish is preferred.
