Medical Assistant I

Working at Cibola General Hospital makes a big difference in our community! The salary range for this position is $19 to $30, with a midpoint of $24.50. New hires will typically receive between minimum and midpoint; however, offers may vary based on experience, internal equity, and market.

Cibola General Hospital provides services in general surgery, 24-hour Emergency care, Intensive Care, Internal Medicine, Obstetrics, Pathology, Podiatry, Primary Care and Radiology with X-ray, CT, MRI. We have three operating rooms including a room for scopes. Outpatient Behavioral Health Services, Clinics, Lab services, Pharmacy, Cardiopulmonary, and Rehab.

Certification Training Program

Employee Referral Plan

CGH rewards up to $2,000 to employees of the hospital and clinic who identify and refer potential applicants who are hired into approved positions. Position Overview

The Medical Assistant I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting providers with patient care and treatment. This role focuses on patient intake, basic clinical support, and administrative assistance to ensure efficient clinic operations. The MA I will also provide back-up support to the receptionist as needed.

Essential Functions:

• Conduct patient intake, including vital signs, medical history, and other relevant information.
• Assist providers with examinations and minor procedures as requested.
• Perform CLIA-waived testing (e.g., dipstick urine, accu-check, pregnancy tests, etc.).
• Make phone calls to patients for follow-up, lab results, or appointment reminders.
• Schedule patient referrals and coordinate medical record requests.
• Ensure providers have necessary patient records, lab results, and diagnostic information prior to visits.
• Maintain exam rooms and order clinical supplies as needed.
• Provide back-up coverage for the receptionist when required.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED
• BLS/CPR Certification (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
• Ability to administer medications and vaccines by injection

Preferred:

• Certification as a Medical Assistant (MA) or Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA)
• Previous experience in a clinic or healthcare setting
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and electronic health records (EHR) systems
