LSA Finance is seeking a finance professional to provide financial and portfolio management support services in LSA business offices. The Financial Specialist Intermediate is a key member of the business office serving multiple units and will be part of the FSBO Portfolio Management Team, working directly with faculty to manage their projects. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to partner with colleagues at all levels and within multiple University offices, and will involve close collaboration with faculty to ensure successful project management. There is a requirement to come to campus as necessary throughout the year to facilitate intentional collaboration, team building, and connections. Responsibilities This position serves as the LSA business office liaison to assigned LSA units, collaborating closely with LSA chief administrators, faculty, and other stakeholders. Key responsibilities include: Providing faculty account support, such as managing faculty project grants Addressing balance inquiries and assisting with budget preparation Monitoring expenditures, reviewing budget/actual activity, and taking corrective action when necessary (e.g., journal entries) Managing and tracking faculty, staff, and student appointments, and effort allocations on faculty accounts Addressing deficit balances, monitoring project end dates, and providing timely updates to the supported faculty Ensuring appropriate use of faculty funds and providing input to managers on budget and financial reports Assisting colleagues in the LSA business office as needed, maintaining a positive and collaborative approach Ensuring clear and effective communication with faculty and LSA administrators Actively participating in initiatives to improve processes and streamline operations Interpreting and applying SPG and LSA policies and guidelines as required Documenting best practices and procedures for internally funded research administration Engaging in ongoing process improvement efforts to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of financial operations within the department Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Minimum of two years of experience in finance or accounting required; experience with financial analysis and report preparation. Strong customer service, interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. Ability to develop and implement procedures, manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Proficiency in Excel and adaptability to evolving technology essential. Team collaboration, attention to detail, sound judgment, and follow‑through on tasks.
