Sargent & Lundy (S&L) is seeking a Project Manager to support Dominion Energy’s Subsequent License Renewal (SLR) and generator projects at Surry Nuclear Station. This position will provide on-site leadership and oversight for the execution of complex nuclear plant modifications, with primary emphasis on generator replacement and associated electrical equipment projects. Requirements Provide on-site construction and project oversight for SLR and generator replacement, AVR, exciter, relay protection, and related plant-modification projects. Serve as a senior S&L field interface with Dominion Energy, station leadership, engineering, operations, maintenance, work management, outage planning, vendors, contractors, and subcontractors. Lead coordination of project execution from scope definition and design development through procurement, fabrication, installation, testing, turnover, and closeout. Review project execution plans, construction plans, work packages, installation instructions, test plans, outage schedules, and readiness requirements. Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering deliverables and confirm that design inputs, field conditions, constructability considerations, equipment interfaces, and installation requirements are understood before work begins. Monitor contractor and vendor performance for nuclear safety, industrial safety, quality, schedule, staffing, productivity, material control, and compliance with contractual requirements. Support generator and electrical equipment work involving heavy components, equipment removal and installation, cable routing, relay protection, AVR interfaces, testing, and system turnover. Coordinate field activities with station operations, maintenance, engineering, radiation protection, security, work management, training, quality assurance, and outage organizations. Conduct or support field walkdowns, constructability reviews, pre-job briefs, work readiness reviews, installation inspections, test readiness reviews, post-maintenance testing, and turnover reviews. Track construction progress, project milestones, staffing, material status, field constraints, design issues, vendor deliverables, and outage commitments. Maintain integrated project and construction schedules, including near‑term work plans, critical‑path activities, outage milestones, and recovery plans. Identify and resolve issues affecting safety, nuclear quality, configuration control, cost, schedule, equipment function, or project scope. Review and coordinate requests for information, design clarifications, field change requests, nonconformance reports, condition reports, corrective actions, and punch‑list items. Verify that work is performed using approved drawings, specifications, procedures, permits, work packages, and station controls. Coordinate vendor site visits, equipment inspections, factory or pre‑installation testing, field installation support, and final acceptance activities. Provide clear daily, weekly, and monthly status reporting to Dominion Energy and S&L management, including risks, accomplishments, upcoming work, decisions, and required actions. Support project controls activities, including schedule performance, progress measurement, cost forecasting, change management, invoice review, accruals, and variance resolution. Confirm completion of as‑built documentation, test records, turnover packages, equipment documentation, deficiency resolution, and project closeout requirements. Promote a questioning attitude, strong nuclear safety culture, disciplined work execution, and continuous improvement across SLR and generator project teams. Work Environment This position is based on a hybrid work schedule supporting Dominion Surry Power Station in Surry, VA and will require on‑site support 3‑5 days a week. The role may require extended hours, schedule flexibility, outage support, field walkdowns, equipment inspections, work in industrial plant areas, and coordination of activities in controlled or protected‑access areas. The position may also require working around large equipment, construction materials, temporary installations, and active work fronts while wearing required personal protective equipment. Qualifications We do not sponsor employees for work authorization in the U.S. for this position. E Ssential Skills And Experience Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or a related technical discipline; equivalent experience may be considered. 10 or more years of progressive experience in nuclear construction management, project management, field engineering, project oversight, or implementation of complex power‑generation projects. Demonstrated experience supporting commercial nuclear plant modifications, major electrical equipment projects, generator projects, outage execution, or other highly regulated industrial work. Experience overseeing engineering, procurement, vendor fabrication, construction, installation, testing, commissioning, or turnover activities. Experience managing or monitoring contractor and vendor performance for safety, quality, schedule, staffing, productivity, and contractual compliance. Working knowledge of nuclear station work controls, engineering change processes, configuration management, work packages, field execution, testing, and turnover requirements. Ability to interpret electrical and mechanical drawings, specifications, equipment documentation, construction procedures, test plans, schedules, and project records. Strong communication and coordination skills, with the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and resolve field issues with limited direction. Strong organizational, analytical, decision‑making, and problem‑solving skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project scheduling, cost‑control, reporting, and document‑management tools. Valued But Not Required Skills And Experience Previous experience with Subsequent License Renewal projects or long‑term nuclear plant modernization programs. Experience with main generator replacement, exciter replacement, AVR replacement, generator relay protection, turbine‑generator systems, or associated electrical balance‑of‑plant modifications. Prior experience supporting Dominion Energy nuclear facilities, Surry Nuclear Station, or pressurized‑water reactor stations. Experience with generator outage planning, heavy‑load handling coordination, equipment removal and installation, electrical testing, relay testing, system energization, or post‑maintenance testing. Experience with engineering change packages, design change processes, owner’s engineering, responsible engineering, vendor document review, or station acceptance reviews. Experience with Primavera P6, integrated project schedules, earned value or progress measurement, cost forecasting, management of change, and contract administration. Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified Construction Manager (CCM), professional engineering license, or comparable certification. Familiarity with Nuclear Regulatory Commission requirements, Institute of Nuclear Power Operations expectations, utility quality assurance programs, and commercial nuclear construction practices.
