Collections Specialist

The Opportunity

Join Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University as a Collections Specialist supporting the University's student account collections process. In this role, you will manage delinquent student accounts, work with inactive students to resolve outstanding balances and establish payment plans, and coordinate the placement and resolution of accounts with external collection agencies. You will also support account reconciliations, reporting, write-off activities, compliance, and process improvement efforts.

This position offers an opportunity to contribute to accurate and efficient student account operations while collaborating with internal departments and external partners to resolve complex collections matters and improve processes and controls.

Compensation

The hourly rate for this role is up to $22.00. The final offer will be based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience, as well as applicable state regulations, internal equity, and business needs, and may fall outside of the stated range.

Required Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent level of education.

• 1-3 years of related work experience, preferably in student support.

• Knowledge of collections, student accounts, receivables, and reconciliation processes.

• Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and attention-to-detail skills.

• Effective written and verbal communication skills.

• Ability to exercise independent judgment, resolve issues, and appropriately escalate complex matters.

• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining accuracy.

• Proficiency with financial, student information, and spreadsheet systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience or familiarity with higher education student accounts, tuition and fees, and financial aid.

• Previous office or administrative experience, particularly in a customer service or financial setting.
