RN Med-Surg Acute Care

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse (RN) Acute Care/Med-Surg Adult provides high-quality nursing care to patients in an acute care setting. This role involves planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating patient care using specialized knowledge of critical disease states. The RN collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure comprehensive care, focusing on patients with acute and chronic illnesses, including those recovering from orthopedic surgeries and hybrid cath lab procedures. Responsibilities:

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients in the Med-Surg/Acute Care unit.
• Provide skilled nursing care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses and post-surgical needs.
• Utilize nursing process and critical thinking to manage patient care effectively.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate patient care and discharge planning.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Monitor patient conditions and respond appropriately to changes.
• Participate in call rotation to support staffing needs.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Colorado.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Acute Care, Med-Surg, or Telemetry nursing.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association.
• Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and treatment planning skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Experience with orthopedic surgery patients and hybrid cath lab procedures.
• Previous experience with acute and chronic illness management in a hospital setting.

Special Considerations:

• Must agree to participate in call rotation, taking one call shift every two weeks as per hospital pay schedule.
• Work environment includes acute care, medical-surgical, and telemetry units.
• Traveler housing options available near the hospital.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts including weekend rotations.
• Shift schedule requires flexibility to accommodate call shifts in place of guaranteed hours when requested for staffing needs.
