Registered Nurse (RN)

Join a dedicated team providing exceptional care along the Central California Coast. This role involves assisting surgeons and anesthesiologists and coordinating the flow of equipment, supplies, and staff during surgical procedures, ensuring patient safety throughout the perioperative phase.

Job Summary

• Assist in surgical procedures by circulating in the Operating Room.
• Apply principles of aseptic technique consistently.
• Safely operate all equipment typically used in the Operating Room.
• Prepare patients for surgery, ensuring safe and proper anatomical positioning.
• Conduct pre, intra, and post-procedure patient care planning and assessment according to established criteria.
• Handle and dispose of biohazardous materials safely.
• Access facility information systems to retrieve and utilize pertinent information for patient care.
• Demonstrate knowledge and skills in patient safety, emergency preparedness, and management of hazardous materials.
• Document important parameters related to tissue/allografts and maintain appropriate logs.

Job Requirements

• Education: Associate Degree (A.S.) required; Bachelor's Degree in Nursing preferred.
• Experience: Minimum of one year of full-time experience in the operating room required; two years preferred.
• Licenses/Certifications:
  • Current RN license in the state of practice required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved vendor required.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
  • Certified Nurse, Operating Room (CNOR) preferred.

Essential Functions

• Perform responsibilities related to patient safety and security effectively.
• Utilize downtime for job-related tasks or unit-specific training.
• Participate in patient care planning and collaborate with the care team.

Work Schedule

This position requires flexibility with a schedule that may include day and evening shifts. Additional responsibilities include being on call for at least one night per week and one weekend per schedule, with potential for more based on operational needs. Experience in ortho, neuro, and trauma is required. Epic system experience is preferred.
