Job Description

This role offers an opportunity to work as a cable technician on commercial construction projects, focusing primarily on pulling and installing CAT6 and fiber cabling to support wireless access points and building infrastructure. You will contribute to the successful deployment of communication systems by performing cable pulling, basic termination, and testing tasks in an active construction environment.

Responsibilities

• Pull CAT6 cables for wireless access points (WAPs) throughout commercial buildings.
• Pull and route fiber cabling into and within the building as directed by project plans.
• Perform basic cable termination for CAT6 and fiber cabling when required.
• Assist with cable testing to ensure proper installation and performance.
• Follow construction drawings and instructions to route cabling correctly and neatly.
• Work safely and efficiently on commercial construction sites, adhering to OSHA 10 guidelines and site safety rules.
• Use appropriate tools and equipment to pull, secure, and label cabling.
• Coordinate daily tasks with site supervisors and other trades to avoid conflicts and maintain productivity.
• Maintain reliable transportation to travel to and from assigned job sites as scheduled.
• Support potential security-related cabling scopes as needed, such as cabling for security devices or systems.

Essential Skills

• Experience in cable pulling within construction or commercial environments, or entry-level experience with an electrical background or knowledge.
• Hands-on experience working in commercial construction settings.
• Proficiency in pulling CAT6 cabling for network and wireless access point installations.
• Ability to terminate CAT6 cables and perform basic cable testing.
• Basic understanding of fiber cabling and its installation within buildings.
• Valid OSHA 10 certification.
• Reliable transportation to consistently access various job sites.
• Ability to work safely and follow construction site safety protocols.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Any prior electrical knowledge, even at an entry level.
• Experience working on projects involving security-related cabling scopes.
• Familiarity with installing and supporting wireless access points (WAPs).
• Comfort working in fast-paced commercial construction environments alongside multiple trades.

Work Environment

You will work primarily on commercial construction sites, installing CAT6 and fiber cabling for building communication infrastructure and wireless access points. The role involves physical tasks such as pulling cable through ceilings, walls, and conduits, and may require working at heights, in unfinished spaces, and around active construction activities. Standard construction-site attire is expected, including appropriate work boots, safety gear, and personal protective equipment in line with OSHA 10 and site-specific safety requirements. Work hours typically follow standard construction schedules and may vary depending on project needs, with travel to different job sites made possible through reliable personal transportation.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Temple, TX.

The pay range for this position is $34.76 - $39.50/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in Temple,TX.
