Orlando, FL | Multiple Locations | PRN / As-Needed Coverage
Pay: $20–$24/hour | Immediate Openings

About the Role

We are seeking certified Pharmacy Technicians to provide onsite coverage services at the Orlando VA Healthcare System (OVAHCS). This is a PRN/as-needed position supporting VA pharmacy staff across four locations in the greater Orlando area. Shifts are available days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays across 4-, 8-, 10-, and 12-hour tours.

• Lake Baldwin VA Clinic – 5201 Raymond Street, Orlando, FL 32803
• Viera VA Clinic – 2900 Veterans Way, Viera, FL 32940
• Daytona VA Clinic – 1776 N Williamson Blvd, Daytona Beach, FL 32117

What You'll Do

• Fill and verify outpatient prescriptions using VISTA, bar-code scanning, and automated dispensing equipment
• Perform inpatient functions including unit-dose cart fill, sterile and non-sterile compounding (USP 797/800), and automated dispensing cabinet replenishment
• Handle controlled substance dispensing, inventory, and DEA-compliant documentation
• Conduct ward/unit medication inspections and manage expiration dates
• Support window pick-up, mail-order packaging, and patient identification verification
• Maintain clean, organized pharmacy work areas in compliance with USP and VA standards
• Complete mandatory VA training (privacy, HIPAA, hazardous medications, cybersecurity) upon onboarding and annually

Requirements

• Active national certification: PTCB (CPhT) or NHA (ExCPT) — required, no exceptions
• Minimum 1–2 years of recent pharmacy technician experience (within the last 24 months) in a hospital, health system, or combined inpatient/outpatient pharmacy
• Experience with computerized pharmacy systems and automated dispensing equipment
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently
• Must be able to pass a VA background investigation (Tier 1 / Low Risk)
• Must provide proof of TB test, MMR/Varicella immunity, Tdap, and annual flu vaccine prior to first shift
• Must not appear on the HHS OIG List of Excluded Individuals/Entities
• Must be authorized to work in the United States (E-Verify employer)

Preferred

• Prior VA, DoD, or federal healthcare pharmacy experience
• Sterile compounding competency (USP 797/800)
• Experience with VISTA or similar VA pharmacy information systems

Compensation & Schedule

• Pay: $20–$24/hour based on experience and certifications
• PRN/as-needed scheduling with advance notice when possible; minimum 2-hour notice for call-out coverage
• No on-call or standby requirements
• All federal holidays observed
