About Diamond

Founded in 1974, Diamond Concrete Sawing is one of the Midwest's most trusted concrete sawing and cutting companies. We are family owned, based in Grand Rapids with branches around the state, and our locating work runs under Diamond Locating Services. We saw, drill, and cut concrete on some of the most demanding projects in Michigan, including a lot of MDOT highway and public works, and we locate what is underneath before anyone digs.

We are a company of about 30 people. That means no layers to work through and no waiting a week on a decision. You will know everyone here by name, including the operators running the work you quote.

The Role

This is an estimating and quoting role first, and a sales role second. Every quote at Diamond runs through this seat, whether it came from our outside sales rep, our Director of Service, a bid board, or a contractor who called in cold. The number has to be right, and it has to go out the same day.

You own a job from the moment it is found until it is sold and handed to Service. The first phone call, the questions that define the scope, the quote, the follow-up, and the handoff to dispatch all sit with you. You are the first impression most customers get of us.

The phone rings all day and priorities move. This seat fields inbound calls and email requests, carries a large book of open quotes at a time, and one crew hitting something unexpected in the field can reshuffle your afternoon. If you want a predictable desk, this is not it.

What You Will Do

• Own inbound customer requests and respond the same day.
• Confirm scope, location, access, timing, and special requirements before you quote. Call the client back the same day for anything missing, and ask the questions that change the number.
• Prepare and send quotes for the whole team.
• Follow up on every open quote you own until it is won or lost, and review the losses to find out why.
• Seek out new work daily through bid platforms and other lead sources.
• Help build our monthly MDOT letting quotes, working with the COO and outside sales.
• Add GPR scanning to every cutting quote where it fits.
• Hand sold jobs to the Director of Service with scope, contact, access, specialty equipment, photos, and notes, so the field shows up ready.
• Own the CRM with the whole team. Every lead, quote, and follow-up lives there.
• Be the customer's point of contact for quote questions and scope changes, and spot the additional work in everyday conversations.
• Work with marketing, outside sales, and business development on campaigns, key accounts, and new leads.

Who We Are Looking For

You are a fit if you have done takeoffs and pricing for a trade subcontractor, quoted for a construction companies. You do not need to know concrete cutting. We will teach you the work, the equipment, and our pricing. You do need to know how to read a plan, how to ask a contractor the questions nobody else thought to ask, and how to keep a large book of open quotes moving without dropping one.

The people who do well here are fast but not sloppy, ask instead of guess, and cannot stand an open loop. They are calm and clear on the phone with a superintendent who has thirty seconds and no patience, because your tone sets the standard for how the whole company sounds. They take review as training, because for your first sixty days every quote you build gets looked at before it goes out. And they want to know why a job did not run the way it was priced, because that is how the next quote gets better.

• Experience in estimating, quoting, or inside sales. Construction or a related trade is a strong plus.
• Able to read a scope of work or a plan sheet and know what is missing.
• Organized enough to track many open quotes without a single one going cold.
• Solid CRM habits. Experience with a specific system is a plus, and we will train the right person.
• Willing to learn concrete cutting, GPR, and utility locating well enough to quote the work accurately.

You will work directly with our COO, who will teach you the business, and alongside our outside sales rep, Director of Service, and field supervisor. You will be measured on quote turnaround, quotes sent, win rate, and follow-up. If you are a closer looking for a commission plan, this is not it. If you are the person who wants to be the one who knows what everything costs and gets the number out before anyone else, we would like to talk.

• $62,500 to $75,000 base, depending on experience
