Job Title: Critical Care Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 1845-0715 Hours per Shift: 36 Experience: Minimum 3 years License: Valid professional license within the state of practice Certifications: Valid BLS and ACLS from the American Heart Association Must-Have: - Verification of suicide training - Verification of demographic data via Nursys e-Notify - Proof of right to work in the United States Description: Critical Care Nurses provide direct and individualized nursing care to patients based on the application of scientific nursing principles. In addition to general nursing care, responsibilities include consulting and coordinating with health care team members to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care plans. Prepare and administer medications and record prescribed dosages. Report adverse reactions to medications or treatments in accordance with policy. Provide basic bedside care. Initiate patient education plans as prescribed by the physician. Teach patients and significant others how to manage their illness or injury, including post-treatment home care needs, diet, nutrition, exercise programs, self-administration of medication, and rehabilitation. Record patients' medical information and vital signs. Order, interpret, and evaluate diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions. Take samples for lab work, order prescribed lab tests, and evaluate/interprets lab reports. Prepare equipment and assist physicians during the examination and treatment of patients. Respond to life-saving situations based on nursing standards and protocols. Record all care information concisely, accurately, and completely in a timely manner. Apply Hemodynamic, Phlebotomy, and IV protocols. Monitor and adjust specialized equipment used on patients while interpreting and recording electronic displays. Monitor catheters, leads, and tubing for proper placement and functioning. Initiate corrective action whenever monitoring/life support equipment shows adverse symptoms.
