Breast Medical Oncologist

Our Organization in Kansas City

Situated in the suburbs of Kansas City, our organization is on the lookout for a passionate, energetic, and collaborative fellowship-trained oncologist specializing in breast cancer. The ideal candidate will be instrumental in providing state-of-the-art, patient-focused care for those diagnosed with breast cancer, while also engaging in general oncology services. We aim to enhance our subspecialty oncology programs, including breast, thoracic, gastrointestinal, and genitourinary oncology. We warmly welcome applications from highly qualified recent graduates.

Currently, our team consists of six oncologists, and we are actively expanding both our specializations and our new $70 million Cancer Institute located on the Shawnee Mission campus. Our physician group is growing to include specialties such as Gynecologic Oncology, Breast Oncology, Thoracic Oncology, Neuro-Oncology, and various surgical oncology fields. Call duties will be shared among the physicians in the practice, including weekends. The new physician will have access to research opportunities, clinical trials, tumor boards, and a multidisciplinary care team that includes nurse navigators, dietitians, social workers, oncology rehabilitation, palliative care, and financial navigators for patients.

Practice Description:

• Schedule: Monday to Friday
• 1 in 6 call rotation
• Approximately 20 patients per day
• 24-hour call (covering both inpatient and outpatient clinic calls at night)
• Electronic Medical Records: Epic
• Guaranteed initial base salary with a wRVU production component

Knowledge and Skills Required:

• Board certification in Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification or eligibility in Hematology and Medical Oncology, along with significant experience or interest in breast cancer management
• Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues, staff, and patients
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong medical decision-making abilities

Our facility, located in Merriam, Kansas, is a 504-bed acute care hospital serving the Kansas City metropolitan area, particularly Johnson County. Formerly known as Shawnee Mission Medical Center, it became part of our network in 2019, driven by a mission to deliver faith-based, holistic care that addresses physical, emotional, and spiritual health.
