Energy Interconnection Program Lead

Verrus is a developer of next-generation hyperscale data centers that flexibly leverage onsite energy infrastructure (e.g., large scale BESS) to provide secure, cost‑effective power for advanced workloads, including AI/ML, and to support grid services in a sustainable way. Role Energy Program Manager – responsible for ensuring timely delivery of power to active development sites across the U.S., working closely with utilities, transmission owners and internal technical teams to move interconnections from study to energization. The role will evolve to shape Verrus’s early‑stage utility engagement model, integrating energy planning, capacity alignment and commercial strategy from the start. Responsibilities Lead end‑to‑end interconnection delivery for active data center projects, ensuring feasibility to energization milestones. Serve as the daily liaison with host utilities, building trusted relationships, and coordinating internal engineering, construction and commercial teams. Develop early‑stage engagement models for future sites, integrating power availability, tariff alignment and planning requirements from site selection through construction. Support negotiation of energy service agreements, interconnection terms and other commercial arrangements, working with legal and finance. Partner with Site Selection, Design & Engineering, Construction, Operations and Policy teams to ensure consistent execution across projects. Create tools, templates and tracking systems for interconnection status, risks and dependencies; capture lessons learned in scalable playbooks. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or related field. 8–12 years of experience in utility engagement, transmission/interconnection management or large‑load infrastructure development. Demonstrated success managing complex, multi‑party grid or power delivery projects. Strong understanding of transmission and distribution interconnection processes, system impact studies and utility operations. Excellent relationship‑building and stakeholder management skills across technical, commercial and regulatory audiences. Strong analytical and communication skills, with a bias for execution and problem‑solving. Willingness to travel regularly to utility partners and project sites. Preferred Qualifications Master’s degree in Engineering, Energy, Business or related field. Compensation Total cash range (salary + bonus) for this position in California is $175,000–$240,000. Compensation is determined by multiple factors, including location, and may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills and experience. Salary and bonus are one part of Verrus’s comprehensive compensation package, which also includes equity, health benefits and paid time off.
