Additional Information About the Role BJC HealthCare System is hiring a Full-Time Histotechnician II at Missouri Baptist Medical Center (MBMC) - Surgical Pathology Dept . Sign-On Bonus (for eligible applicants) Position Details: Day Shift Hours: (Mon-Fri) with a Set Start Time of always 5:00am Flexible schedule! 4 or 5 days per week at 10 or 8-hour shifts starting at 5:00am Possible Weekend Rotation No Holidays!!! Experience: Non-Reg with at least 3 years of Histo (embedding/microtomy) experience will be considered HT - ASCP or ASCP – HTL Embedding, microtomy and IHC experience (preferred) Histology Technician, Histologist, HISTOTECHNICIAN, etc. Certified by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), histotechnology Requirements: HT (ASCP) or equivalent Certification High School Diploma or GED 1 year of experience preferred Why Join Us? Responsibilities Understands test principles, theory, maintenance, troubleshooting, and operation of all instrumentation in assigned areas. Tasks to include, but not limited to, microtomy, embedding, staining, reagent preparation. Performs and documents quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary. Performs special stains and immunohistochemistry, (manual or automated), after reagent preparation. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills to perform above tasks and responsibilities. Trained to complete tissue gross examination as needed. Must meet the High Complexity qualifications as written in CLIA 42CFR493.
