Job Title : Systems Developer

Scope of Project:

The Agency of Digital Services, on behalf of the Agency of Agriculture, Food and Markets (VAAFM), is seeking a Systems Developer to perform application modernization on the Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (FarmPREP) web application. The Farm Phosphorus Reduction Planner (FarmPREP) is an innovative web application that streamlines data inputs and outputs to USDA-NRCS's complex Agricultural Policy/Environmental eXtender (APEX) model to provide accurate results for phosphorus loading from agricultural fields.

FarmPREP runs using a hybrid N-tier configuration of virtual servers, at Amazon AWS, that includes a web server, middleware (API) server, a separate model API server, and a PostGreSQL database server, as well as a Docker container system executed on AWS Fargate.

Responsibilities:

• Perform application modernization on the FarmPREP web application.

• Support and enhance Angular-based front-end components.

• Develop and maintain NodeJS REST APIs.

• Work with PostgreSQL/PostGIS databases and ArcGIS Enterprise Geodatabase functionality.

• Support AWS cloud infrastructure including ECS/ECR, Fargate, and S3.

• Develop and maintain Docker containerized services.

• Support Python scripts and model processing services.

• Work within Linux-based environments and enterprise GIS architecture.
