Job Description – Registered Nurse – Addiction Inpatient (Medical Detox/Sub‑Acute Rehab) – Full Time Nights Registered Nurses are critical members of the team, diagnosing and treating health problems by means of nursing methods and techniques such as case finding, health teaching, and counseling. Incumbents provide care that supports and restores health and well‑being, while adhering to a medical regimen. Responsibilities Assess the patient’s condition and nursing needs; coordinate nursing care activities with other health disciplines involved in the treatment effort to relate and integrate the nursing regimen with the treatment plan for patients. Develop a written individualized care plan which includes teaching needs and discharge planning. Administer direct care when professional nursing skills and judgment are needed. Administer medication. Practice infection control and participate in the maintenance of a clean and safe environment. Assume responsibility and accountability for the delivery of nursing care to all assigned patients. Communicate changes in patient’s condition and questions regarding patient care to Charge RN/Clinician. Develop and maintain current written plan of care for assigned patients. Set priorities to meet the patient’s needs. Set patient goals and priorities with the patient and/or family. Provide documented evidence in the medical record of patient/family teaching and their responses and understanding of the teaching. Ensure that patient education and instructions are consistent with that of the physician or designee. Communicate and work effectively with other staff and other departments. Participate in unit or hospital‑based quality assurance activities or committees to contribute to the advancement of the nursing profession at the facility. Required Experience & Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification. Preferred Experience & Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree preferred. (Note: Registered Nurses licensed on or after December 19, 2017 must obtain a BSN within 10 years of initial RN licensure to maintain practice in New York State.) Certified Addictions Registered Nurse (CARN) credential preferred. One (1) year of Behavioral Health/Psychiatric/Medical‑Surgical experience preferred. Physical Demands Ability to stand, walk, and move quickly for extended periods, especially during emergencies. Ability to assist with patient transfers, repositioning, and physical interventions, if needed. Lifting and/or transferring patients, including those who may be physically aggressive or uncooperative, with the use of appropriate safety techniques and equipment. Handling equipment and supplies needed for emergency care. Reacting quickly to situations involving physical restraint, patient agitation, or aggression. Providing physical support in restraining or de‑escalating patients if necessary. Ability to use medical instruments, perform assessments, administer medications, and manage equipment with precision. Performing tasks such as documenting patient information, administering injections, or manipulating medical equipment. Maintaining physical and mental alertness during long shifts, including night shifts and weekends. Managing high‑stress situations with clear decision‑making and physical capacity. Managing the emotional and physical challenges that come with caring for patients who may be agitated or experiencing mental health crises. Responding quickly and taking rapid action, including using physical restraint procedures to stabilize a patient in a crisis situation. These physical demands require a high level of alertness, physical engagement, and responsiveness, especially when dealing with patients in acute psychiatric distress. Anticipated Pay Range The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established based on relevant experience. The above salary range represents the facility’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
