PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT - EMERGENCY MEDICINE Full-time Job Description Summary: Performs primary medical care and clinical duties under the supervision of a physician. Qualifications: Be a graduate Physician Assistant qualified by academic and practical education to provide patient services as a physician extender under supervision of a physician. Be a graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Training Program recognized by the Accreditation Review Commission on Education for the Physician Assistant (ARC-PA), acceptable to the Surgeon General, USAF. Certification as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) is required. Have at least 24 months of experience as an Emergency Medicine Physician Assistant within the last 36 months. Type of Work: Provide primary or specialty medical care under the supervision of a physician. Collect data required for diagnosis and perform procedures and services. Obtain and evaluate medical histories, perform physical examinations, and order laboratory studies, radiographs, electrocardiograms, and other examinations. Collect specimens for pathological examination. Analyze data, formulate problem lists, and establish treatment plans. Counsel patients on medical issues, medication use, family planning, child care, diet, and health maintenance. Make entries in patient's medical records. In emergency situations, administer lifesaving procedures and medications, such as CPR, traumatic injury treatment, defibrillation, intubation, and emergency medication administration. Coordinate patient care with other healthcare team members. Initiate consultation requests to other health professionals. Complete narrative summaries and documentation. Instruct healthcare personnel on preventive medicine and other medical activities as directed by a physician.
