INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST

Job Title

The role involves providing essential information and support regarding Communications Security (COMSEC) policies and procedures to the Commanding Officer and relevant personnel. Key duties include:

• Providing information about new or revised COMSEC policies and procedures and their impact on the command.
• Acquiring, monitoring, and maintaining command COMSEC material allowance, including a semiannual review of all COMSEC material holdings.
• Ensuring alternate managers are informed of the account status to assume duties in the absence of the Key Management Infrastructure Operating Manager (KOAM).
• Conducting training to ensure familiarity with and adherence to proper COMSEC procedures among all personnel, including remote Local Elements (Les).
• Ensuring prompt and accurate preparation, signature, and submission of account correspondence, messages, and accounting reports.
• Verifying the security clearance of all personnel prior to granting them access to or issuing them COMSEC material.
• Executing TS/SCI indoctrinations/debriefs, documenting in the Defense Information System for Security (DISS), and mailing original Nondisclosure Agreements to Special Security Officer (SSO) NAVY.
• Coordinating with the SSO on various daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, annual, and ADHOC requirements.
• Generating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Instructions, and other regulatory guidance relating to COMSEC material and equipment in the SCIF.
