Overview Healthy Harvest Corps (HHC) is an AmeriCorps program administered by the Ohio Association of Foodbanks as part of a coordinated statewide effort to expand and sustain Food Is Medicine initiatives. These initiatives recognize access to healthy food as a critical component of improving health outcomes and overall well‑being. AmeriCorps volunteers will play an important role in addressing hunger as a social determinant of health by supporting programs that connect individuals and families with nutritious food resources. Through the Healthy Harvest Corps program, OAF will place 13 AmeriCorps members at 8 host sites across Ohio to support Food Is Medicine initiatives and strengthen community‑based hunger relief efforts. This position is located at SE Ohio Foodbank & Kitchen in Logan, OH. The SE Ohio Foodbank is a HAPCAP program that works to reduce food insecurity and empower people facing hunger in SE Ohio, serving ten counties in Southeast Ohio. Member Duties SE Ohio Foodbank is recruiting two Healthy Harvest Corps AmeriCorps Members for distinct roles advancing “food as medicine” initiatives across Southeast Ohio. Role 1 – Healthcare Partnerships & Community Referrals: Connect neighbors with food access, social services, and healthcare resources through outreach, screenings, closed‑loop referral systems, and partnerships with healthcare providers and Medicaid organizations. Role 2 – FoodRx Medically Supportive Grocery Box Program: Coordinate food packing and distribution, inventory management, participant communication, and nutrition‑focused food selection using Healthy Eating Research guidelines. Both roles engage directly with community members through mobile markets, school pantries, and outreach events while building experience in public health, nutrition, community engagement, communication, and program operations.
