This role offers an opportunity to join a highly respected health system and help shape the future of trauma care in the region through collaboration, innovation, and leadership.Position SummaryThe Trauma Physician provides direct clinical care to trauma, critical care, and acute care surgery patients at Main Line Health hospitals. The trauma surgeon is responsible for the evaluation and management of patients with trauma or acute general surgery needs in the emergency room and inpatient services. The Trauma Physician collaborates with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, evidence-based care in accordance with ACS and state trauma standards.Benefits and LifestyleHighly competitive compensation package, including base salary and performance incentivesComprehensive benefits: generous vacation, CME allowance, robust retirement plan with pension, and top-tier health and wellness optionsFinancial stability with a top-ranked, financially secure health systemArea offers top-ranked public and private schoolsMinutes from historic Philadelphia with world-class dining, arts, and cultural opportunitiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesProvide 24/7 trauma and acute care surgery coverage, including in-house call as scheduled.Perform initial evaluation, resuscitation, operative and non-operative management, and ongoing care for trauma patients.Participate in the care of emergency general surgery and surgical critical care patients as assigned.Collaborate with trauma program leadership, nursing, APPs, and ancillary staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.Participate in trauma activations, massive transfusion protocol, and multidisciplinary rounds.Document all patient care activities in accordance with hospital and regulatory requirements.Participate in trauma performance improvement and patient safety (PIPS) activities, including case reviews and M&M conferences.Support trauma center verification and designation processes.Engage in education and training for residents, APPs, nurses, and other team members.Participate in community outreach and injury prevention initiatives as requested.Maintain current knowledge of trauma care guidelines, protocols, and best practices.Attend required meetings, educational sessions, and maintain all necessary certifications.Other duties as assigned by the Trauma Medical Director or hospital leadership.EducationMedical Degree (MD/DO) from an accredited institution.Completion of an ACGME-accredited residency in General Surgery.Fellowship training in Surgical Critical Care or Trauma Surgery preferred.Licensure & CertificationUnrestricted Pennsylvania medical license.Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery (and Surgical Critical Care if applicable).ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) certification required; instructor status preferred.ExperienceMinimum 2 years of recent trauma or acute care surgery experience preferred.Demonstrated commitment to teamwork, quality improvement, and patient-centered care.Why Join Main Line Health?Full Clinical Freedom: Autonomy to practice across trauma, acute care surgery, and critical careCommitment to Education: Active involvement in GME and teaching opportunitiesResearch Opportunities: Access to outcome studies and scholarly projectsLeadership Pathways: Early hires will have opportunities for roles such as System Leader of Trauma, Medical Director positions, and Medical Quality Officer for TraumaAbout UsFounded in 1985, Main Line Health® is a not-for-profit health system serving portions of Philadelphia and its suburbs.
