Join our team and help us keep communities connected.Stantec's New York City office is seeking a highly motivated and driven Senior Bridge Design Engineer to support our growing New York Bridge and Transportation practice to support engineering teams on large-scale infrastructure design projects and pursuits. You will directly work with the Bridge and Structural Leadership and Project Managers to assist with leading bridge design squads on projects such as bridges, complex highway interchanges, roadway reconstruction and public spaces. This position requires a strong track record of leading and delivering complex, AASHTO-based bridge design, design-build projects and related structures.Your Key Responsibilities:Lead the design and review of bridge components ensuring compliance with design criteria, design standards and specificationsProvide oversight and technical overview of bridge designs, advise on constructability and have the ability serve as the Package Lead or Engineer-of-Record for bridge design packagesBe proficient with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design and local bridge design code requirementsProvide oversight for development project design deliverables including design criteria, design plans, design specifications, quantities and related calculations for various design projects under Design/Build and Design/Bid/Build environments.Monitor progress against design milestones to ensure timely completion of bridge activitiesSupervise, mentor and technically guide multiple squads with mid-level and junior bridge engineers as well as CAD designersLead preparation of design and construction documents in accordance with NYSDOT and other local agency standardsLead resolution of complex technical problems and exercise independent decision makingReview and approve construction documents and provide design support during construction activities (Shop Drawings, RFIs, Field related design changes, as-builts)Lead design-build pursuits, including development of technical and schematic conceptsLead coordination with internal disciplines (highway, traffic, geotechnical, drainage, lighting)Perform quality control and quality assurance checks on deliverables.Lead client development initiatives, coordination including coordinating deliverables, submittals, meetings, review comments etc.Your Capabilities and Credentials:Licensed or ability to obtain the Professional Engineer license in the States of NY and NJ.Proficient in Bridge Design and fast-paced bridge design work with ability to lead multiple squadsKnowledge of state-of-the-art bridge design codes, bridge design software as well as CAD standards to provide direction to engineering bridge teamsProficient knowledge of bridge design and load rating codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity, and innovation.Strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced design environmentHands-on experience with agencies such as NYSDOT, NYCDOT, MTA, PANYNJ, is desiredEducation and Experience:Master's Degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from an accredited institution preferred or Bachelor's degree in Civil (Structural) Engineering from an accredited institution10-15 years' experience in Bridge Design and/or design of transportation structuresProfessional Engineer (PE) license in New York (or ability to obtain with 6 months)Demonstrated experience delivering multi-span steel and concrete bridge projects (new designs and/rehabilitation)Strong familiarity with relevant DOT standards, design manuals and standard sheetsExperience with NYSDOT standards and local DOT agencies will be preferredAbility to proactively identify structural risks and drive innovative solutionsThis description is not a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that may be required of the employee and other duties, responsibilities and activities may be assigned or may be changed at any time with or without notice.
