Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certification High school diploma or GED Director’s Certification (or begin classwork for certification within first year of employment) NCLB Certification Required within the first 90 days of employment Current Child Development Associate (CDA) (or obtain within the first year of employment) Current CPR and First Aid Certification or obtain within the first month of employment Candidate must have satisfactory outcome of fingerprinting background check. Non-refundable fee (approximately $50) paid by employee. Knowledge/Skills: Ability to speak clearly and articulately Ability to write in a clear, concise, and grammatically correct manner Ability to make oral presentation and conduct training before a large audience Proficient in Microsoft Office Knowledge of community organizations and resources and how to effectively operate with the community framework. Ability to work with people of all levelsMulticultural awareness and sensitivity Must be willing to work evenings or occasional weekends when necessary Bilingual ability preferred Experience: Three (3) years of work related experience Major Responsibilities and Duties: The following statements describe the general purpose and responsibilities assigned and should not be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions that may be assigned or skills that may be required. Professionalism: The Educators' Code of Ethics is set forth in Texas Administrative Code to provide rules for standard practices and ethical conduct toward students, professional colleagues, school officials, parents, and members of the community. Rule §247.1 Purpose and Scope; Definitions Rule §247.2 Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators Organization Management: The coordinator manages administrative and facilities functions responsibly through the following: Assist in classrooms to provide coverage that guarantees the CDC meets the legal ratio requirement. Contact substitutes and work with substitute system to ensure coverage for all classrooms. Assist the director with coordinating personnel time schedules. Assist with emergency procedures. Maintain all records related to State Licensing Requirements as mandated by the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Maintain all staff development certificates to ensure license renewal. Maintain and record all NAC and NAEYC accreditation rules and regulations. Assist in the office with enrollment, reception duties, and other jobs as assigned. Inform director of needed supplies, materials, repairs, and maintenance requests. Assure all equipment children use is in good condition and assist in maintaining center property inventory records. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. Coordinate center events or programs to assist with committee reports. Schedule and keep records of participation in parent involvement programs. Complete monthly reports of donations, goods, services, and cash by adopter organizations. Submit monthly reports on volunteer and mentors to the Adopt-A-School office. Instructional Management: The coordinator promotes improvement of instruction through activities such as the following: Consult with campus staff continuously to execute a plan of action for students with greatest needs (e.g., parent visits, attendance. etc.). Act as an instructional coach and provide feedback on a continuous basis. Assist director with all weekly digital lesson plan postings and follow-up. Support the director in observing staff and ensure the coordination of all classroom activities. Communication and Community Relations: The coordinator promotes a positive tone for the center or community relations through activities such as the following: Receive and direct all incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Greet and communicate with parents, center/program staff, vendors and the general public. Assist with communication with the Food Services Director. Assist with CDC parent relationships. Conduct orientations for parents, substitutes, volunteers and new staff members. Assist in informing parents of services available to their children as per the district and center parent involvement plan. Assist in planning and conducting center activities for parents. Attend center and District meeting where groups of parents will be present as assigned by the director and district administration (e.g., PTA, registration, Meet the Teacher, Open House). Develop and ensure availability of materials for a Parent Center. Provide information to help students, parents, and staff understand that various services provided by the Title 1 program and the District. Track the center’s need for volunteer assistance and recruit volunteers and adopters from among the parents and patrons of the center. Assist parents with volunteer services at the center. Assure volunteers complete the appropriate forms for participation in the volunteer program, adhere to rules of the program, and provide training for volunteers as needed. Coordinate volunteer/adopter/mentor recognition for the center. Serve as the liaison between the services provided by the school district, campuses, and services available in the community, region or state. Submit timely articles for both center and District newsletters as assigned by the director. Professional Growth and Development The coordinator provides leadership in professional growth and development through activities such as the following: Annually attend training required for Food Handling Certification. Annually attend professional development opportunities related to designated subject area (30 requisite hours). Provide staff development to teachers and caregivers as needed. Qualities of an Effective Aide The coordinator exhibits qualities such as the following: Serve as a positive role model that supports the mission of the District and the Child Development Center. Complete and submit all reports on time as required. Keep personal daily log of activities and submit periodic reports. Be knowledgeable and demonstrate progress toward completion of annual program goals. Maintain confidentiality of information. Be supportive of all center attendance and academic programs. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned to improve parental and community involvement. Comply with District and center policies and procedures, as well as state and federal laws and regulations. Comply with the standards of conduct set out in Board Policy DH (Legal) and (Local) and with any other policies, regulations, and guidelines that impose duties, requirements, or standards. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Child Development Center Director or Director of Communications and Community Relations. Supervisory Responsibilities: Supervision of children as needed. Monitor assigned staff as needed. Equipment: Wheelchair lift, ramp, computer, copier, printer, fax, audiovisual equipment, laminating machine, telephone, adaptive equipment, oxygen gauges, and other equipment applicable to the position. Working Conditions: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Work with frequent interruptions/deadlines and maintain emotional control under stress. Ability to adapt quickly to daily changes in the center and provide physical support to the child care providers and children when needed. May require prolonged use of computer, moderate standing, stooping, bending and lifting of children. Biological exposure to bacteria and communicable diseases.
