In this dual Front Office Specialist II and Medical Assistant role, you'll perform clinical and non-clinical duties, gather patient information, and work with the healthcare team to assess and provide appropriate care for low-acuity pediatric patients. You'll also schedule appointments, greet patients and visitors, handle incoming calls, coordinate referrals, enter accurate billing information, and submit claims. You'll support patients and families by introducing yourself, explaining visits and processes, and communicating expected visit lengths.Think you've got what it takes?Hours of Operation: Open 7 days a week.Monday–Friday: 12:00 PM–10:00 PMSaturday–Sunday: 10:00 AM–8:00 PMResponsibilitiesCollects and documents patient information, vital signs, medications, allergies, and reasons for visits accuratelyPrepares pediatric patients for examinations and assists providers with treatments, testing, and emergency care within site protocolsAdministers medications and immunizations as directed by the physician, documents care and patient education, and promptly reports errors or adverse reactionsCollects and processes specimens, performs laboratory tests and quality checks, and follows applicable laboratory and safety requirementsCoordinates outside laboratory services, tracks results, and notifies providers of results and testing issuesGreets patients and visitors, manages check-in and check-out, schedules appointments, and communicates delays and visit processesScreens calls, documents messages, and provides telephone guidance and prescription refill support under provider direction and site protocolsCoordinates referrals and verifies patient demographics, insurance coverage, and required visit documentationProcesses billing information, collects payments, balances daily transactions, and assists with billing questions and denial preventionMaintains accurate, confidential medical records and processes record requests and correspondence according to practice protocolsMaintains clinical supplies and medication inventory and supports infection control and practice improvement activitiesQualificationsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredGraduation from a medical assisting or emergency medical technician program preferredBasic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association required2 years of related experience requiredAs part of our commitment to maintaining a safe and healthy workplace, all successful candidates will be required to undergo respiratory fit testing in compliance with occupational health and safety standards.About UsTexas Children's Urgent Care offers high-quality, efficient and affordable after-hours patient care in nine convenient community locations across the greater Houston area.
