Executive Director

The Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County (ASP) is seeking a compassionate, strategic, and community-centered Executive Director to lead our mission of preventing suicide through education, outreach, and support. ASP is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving Larimer County through core program areas: Youth Education, Adult Education, and Grief Support.

About the Role The Executive Director is responsible for overseeing operations of the Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County, a dynamic non-profit agency. Responsibilities include: Strategic Planning, Providing Leadership to the Board of Directors, Donor and Grant Development, Community Relations, Financial Management, Staff Management, and Program Coordination. The Executive Director reports to the Alliance for Suicide Prevention Board of Directors. This role requires a leader who embodies ASP's staff values of accountability, authenticity, compassion, relationships, vulnerability, and wellbeing.

Duties:

The Executive Director's responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Collaborate with the Board of Directors to ensure the organization has a long-range plan that advances the achievement of ASP's mission.
  • Collaborate with program directors to identify organizational goals based on prior year outcomes, synthesize programmatic objectives, and develop fundraising and organizational health goals; present a comprehensive strategic plan to the Board of Directors.
  • Represent organizational and community leadership formally and informally with partners in the community.
  • Publicize relevant activities and programs; act as primary media spokesperson.
  • Participate in community-based organizing efforts to further the organizational mission.
  • Assisting in the development of social and traditional media strategies.
  • Partnering with staff to ensure community events have the widest reach and impact in the community.
  • Maintaining leadership and expertise within the community related to suicide loss and suicide prevention strategies.
  • Working closely with the Board of Directors to ensure the vision and mission of the organization are achieved.
  • Present timely and accurate information to the Board about the status of agreed upon objectives, programs, finances, fundraising, staffing, and other relevant issues.
  • Provide resources to the Board to ensure they have an orientation to the organization and are prepared to represent the organization in the community.
  • Participate in all Board committee meetings to provide recommendations, expert guidance, and carry forward aspects of work identified in committee meetings.
  • Preparing and monitoring the budget to ensure the organization operates within financial guidelines and provide updates to the Board of Directors.
  • Assess fundraising strategies and activities, implementing a plan to continue and create sustainable revenue streams.
  • Responsible for maintaining financial records in QuickBooks in concert with the ASP accountant and support staff.
  • Basic financial management including paying bills, monitoring expenses, and taking care of payroll.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legal and fiscal practices of a nonprofit corporation.
  • Maintain and increase success in all aspects of fundraising including review of grant reports and grant requests for funding, special event planning and coordination, and individual donors and sponsors.
  • Work in collaboration and partnership with staff to ensure that ASP's programs continue to be the core of the organization and are maintained at the highest level.
  • Maintain a positive working environment that motivates and encourages staff to participate fully and have pathways for growth.
  • Recruit and select staff members as needed; provide supervision, training, direction, and evaluation of staff.
  • Create and deliver action plans for employees when appropriate.
  • Keep abreast of current research and trends in the field of suicide prevention.
  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations of programs and initiatives to measure impact, identify opportunities for growth, and support strategic decision-making.
  • Direct program services, as necessary, including community and school presentations, support groups and community outreach events and opportunities.
  • Work with regional and state suicide prevention programs.

Required Skills, Education and Experience:

  • Professional nonprofit leadership experience; minimum of five years related experience, with at least 3 years experience in program management/staff supervision.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, written and oral communication, emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills required.
  • Demonstrated experience representing an organization as a public spokesperson, including presentations to diverse community audiences.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising including writing successful grant applications, raising funds from individual donors and corporate sponsors.
  • Demonstrated ability to motivate and bring people together toward a common vision and goal.
  • Ability to work with and build relationships across diverse populations and partners.
  • Demonstrated organizational, operational and financial acumen and the ability to communicate accurate and timely information to the Board of Directors; knowledge of budgeting, strategic planning and evaluation.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • Masters Degree or lived experience. Or relevant work experience as determined by the board.
  • Experience working on or with a board of directors.
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Larimer County community.
Benefits

Compensation and Benefits:

The person hired into this position will likely earn between $84,000 and $115,000, plus monthly stipend benefits.

Actual compensation offered may vary from the posted hiring range based on factors such as relevant experience, time in role, base salary and will be finalized at the time of offer.
