RN - ICU

ICU Travel Registered Nurse

The ICU Travel Registered Nurse provides direct, high-acuity nursing care to critically ill adult patients. This position requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, effective communication, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital environment. The nurse will collaborate with physicians and the interdisciplinary care team to stabilize patients, implement treatment plans, and promote safe, quality outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care for critically ill patients.
• Monitor and interpret vital signs, cardiac rhythms, laboratory results, and other diagnostic data.
• Manage ventilated patients, invasive lines, vasoactive medications, and other critical-care therapies.
• Administer medications, blood products, IV fluids, and treatments according to physician orders and hospital policy.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions promptly.
• Respond to rapid-response and emergency situations as assigned.
• Accurately document assessments, interventions, patient responses, and care plans.
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatments, medications, and discharge needs.
• Communicate effectively during handoff reports and interdisciplinary rounds.
• Follow infection-prevention, medication-safety, patient-identification, and regulatory standards.
• Float to comparable units when needed, based on competency and facility policy.
• Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as required by the assignment.

Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current, unrestricted RN license in the state of practice or active multistate compact privilege.
• Minimum of two years of recent ICU or critical-care nursing experience.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Current Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Demonstrated experience caring for ventilated patients and managing critical-care medications.
• Ability to pass required background checks, drug screening, health screening, and competency assessments.
• Experience with electronic medical records and computerized documentation.
