Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Overview An externship experience at an NVA hospital will give students the unique opportunity to understand the day‑to‑day operations of the practice and to gain valuable hands‑on clinical experience. Although every NVA hospital is unique, they share an environment that is supportive, committed to excellent medicine, and provides exceptional service to animals and the people who love them. Responsibilities Work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gather patient histories Perform physical exams and create treatment plans Assist or perform diagnostics, dentistry services, and surgical procedures Manage medical care of patients Practice communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients Program Details Most externships range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Oakhurst Veterinary Hopsital are designed for clinical‑year students. Eligible veterinary students are entitled to a travel/living expense stipend of $1,000.
