Podcast Instructor (Audio Engineering, Episode Writing, Idea Development)
$25 - $40 per hourAlchemy Education
Must be willing to work out of our midtown office (near Penn station). Must have experience mentoring high school students. Must know how to write podcast scripts, use podcast editing software, engineer the audio, etc. We do not record in a studio, we just use mics at our office.

4-6 hours a week, scheduled as a block. $25-40/hour (depending on experience).
The Podcast Instructor will guide ambitious high school students through the design, development, and execution of various podcasts, including audio engineering, episode writing, and idea development. This contract, on-site role in New York, NY involves planning class sessions, demonstrating recording and editing workflows, and supporting students as they develop concepts, outlines, and scripts for episodes. The Instructor will provide feedback on student work, lead small-group exercises, and coordinate studio time to ensure learners gain hands-on experience with microphones, recording software, and editing tools. Responsibilities also include maintaining a safe and inclusive classroom environment, aligning content with program goals, and collaborating with staff to refine curriculum and evaluate learner progress.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in podcast production, including audio recording, editing, and mixing using common DAWs and studio hardware.
- Experience with episode concept development, story structure, and writing clear, engaging scripts or outlines for spoken audio.
- Prior teaching, training, or mentoring experience, particularly with learners in group settings or project-based programs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts in accessible, supportive ways.
- Ability to work on-site in New York, NY and manage class schedules, studio logistics, and learner projects reliably.
- Familiarity with podcast formats, distribution platforms, and basic audience development strategies is beneficial.

- Relevant professional experience in audio engineering, podcasting, radio, or media production; a related degree or certification is a plus.
